As I mentioned in the last blog post, maybe now is the time to try new things – also culinary. We have the time and the patience to try a new recipe and this coffee trend is just right. No, Wipped Coffee or Dalgona Coffee does not come from the country of the baristas, nor from New York or London – this trend comes from South Korea.
At the moment I am asking myself whether the drink will ever be served in cafes here in Germany, because preparing the whipped coffee cream takes a long time. But stop, from the beginning: what is this coffee trend? And how do I imitate it at home?
Everything is upside down – including coffee
In fact, we also owe this coffee trend to a lockdown – a South Korean didn’t want to do without an instagramable coffee creation, not even in his own 4 walls. While in this country coffee enjoyment is often combined with latte machiatto, this drink can be imagined as a latte machiatto that is upside down.
We tried three different recipes. We picked out the two recipes for wipped coffee. The cowspot coffee is my own creation. The idea of replacing the ice cubes with the self-made Nana ice cream was really worthwhile. The cowspot coffee is clearly our favorite.

Cow stains iced coffee
Ingredients:
a large fully ripe frozen banana
half a tablespoon of baked cocoa
Some cinnamon
Oatmilk (no advertising, oatly barista tastes best)
2 tsp Granulated coffee mild
2 tsp sugar oder erythritol
2 tsp boiled water
Equipment
A hand blender or blender
A mixing bowl
A hand mixer or whisk
1 latte machiatto glass and long spoon
1. At least 1 couple of hours beforehand: cut the ripe banana into pieces and freeze it (we always have some ready, you can make great Nanaice)
2. Mix frozen banana pieces with half a tablespoon of baked cocoa and some cinnamon. To make it creamier, you can add a dash of oat milk if necessary. Pour the mixture into a glass and pour in oat milk. The glass comes in the fridge first. If you don’t want cow spots, you can also mix the oat milk directly with the banana cream, but that looks a lot more boring.
3. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar or erythritol, 2 tablespoons of granulated coffee and 2 tablespoons of boiling water with a hand mixer or whisk. Depending on the taste, about 5 minutes to Whipped Coffee Cream, in this recipe it can also be a slightly thinner cream depending on the taste.
4. Take the glass out of the fridge and spread the coffee cream over it. And it’s best to drink directly when everything is still cool and creamy.
